Anti-theft system components

The anti-theft systems are composed of various peripherals with very specific task. All of the components are able to function in case of a momentary power failure thanks to the backup of some batteries and in case of sabotage the system reacts by activating communicators and sirens to signal the attempted tampering.

Here are in detail all the equipment related to an anti-theft system.

Anti-theft unit

The anti-theft control unit is considered the "heart" of the system, an indispensable component to which all the devices are connected to and which manages their functionality. It contains the programming of the system with the parameters entered during the testing phase and may possibly contain internal communication devices (via GSM-GPRS, via fixed line or via LAN). If a power failure occurs, it keeps the system powered thanks to batteries which are recharged during normal operation.

Internal protection

Volumetric sensors

These sensors are able to detect the movement of a body within an area. They generally use two technologies togheter: infrared (capable of detecting human heat and more sensitive to passing through an object compared to the vision of the sensor) and microwave (capable of detecting the change in distance of an object, therefore more sensitive to the approach of an object with respect to the vision of the sensor). They have a maximum detection distance of just over 10 meters.

Perimeter protection

Opening and inertial contacts

These components are installed directly on the windows and doors and are able to detect the opening of a door leaf and possibly the attempt to break it, by detecting the vibration of the same. They can be visible or recessed depending on the installation needs. Like all system components, they are also protected from tampering attempts.

Rope or rod contacts

These components are installed inside roller shutters or roller blinds and they are capable of detecting the lifting of the roller shutter (rod contact) or the movement of the roller shutter in any position (rope contact).

Active infrared barriers

These components are installed outside the window and they are able to detect the approach or crossing of the protected passage. They come as pairs of  aluminum profiles (in several colors) of the height of the window itself. They project a real infrared barrier which, when interrupted, generates the alarm event.

Infrared sensors with "curtain" effect

These components are installed on the outside above the passage  amd they are able to detect the encumbrance of the area in front of the passage in case an attempt is made to open or force the window frame. They work with passive infrared technology by generating one or more beams  tight screened  on the ground with a "curtain" effect.

External protection

Outdoor barriers

These components are able to work outdoors,  designed to outline a protected perimeter from crossing. They can have an active infrared technology (similar to infrared barriers for gates) or microwave. In all cases they are installed in pairs that communicate with each other, called "transmitters" and "receivers", aesthetically identical.

Passive infrared sensors with narrow beams

These components are installed along the perimeter of the house and detect the crossing  thanks to multiple long distance narrow infrared beams. They are able to work outdoors and unlike the volumetric sensors described below, they can cover detection distances greater than 10 meters.

Volumetric sensors for outdoor use

Similar to indoor volumetric sensors, these components  are installed outdoors to detect movement in a specific installation area, using passive infrared and microwave technologies. They have a maximum coverage of just over 10 meters.

Underground protection

These components consist of a pair of dedicated underground lines at a distance of about 30 cm from each other and are able to detect the footfall of a perimeter, therefore the crossing. Aesthetically invisible and suitable for the protection of outdoor areas with particular geological characteristics.

Protection of railings or fences in general

These components directly installed on the fence are able to detect the attempt to break or climb over. It is strictly necessary that the fence is installed in a stable way and as free of parasitic vibrations as possible.

Command devices

Keyboards

Keypads are the most popular control devices of an alarm system. By recognizing the user with a personal code, it allows you to use all the functions of the system. From the keypad it is possible to activate, deactivate, consult events, modify parameters and possibly view images of video surveillance cameras.

Key points

The key points are all those devices which can be armed and disarmed without using a code.

These can be of different types:

  • transponder readers for RFID keys

  • fingerprint readers or biometric readers

  • RFID badge readers

Radio controls

Similarly to the key points, the radio controls can arm and disarm the anti-theft system without using a code, simply by pressing a button on the same remote control at a distance from other control devices (reasonably within the radio coverage of the system).

Signaling devices

Outdoor sirens

Outdoor sirens are active signaling devices capable of emitting tones with a strong acoustic impact and luminous indications according to the need and the event to be reported. These are called self-powered because they have on board a buffer battery capable of correctly powering the siren itself even in the event of a power failure or tampering.

Indoor sirens

The indoor sirens, similar to those for outdoor, are able to emit acoustic tones and possibly also light signals. They are installed inside the protected rooms and can also be equipped with a buffer battery.

Communication devices

Telephone dialers

Telephone dialers are those devices, equipped on central or remote board, capable of making telephone communications to the customer, a security company or law enforcement agencies and possibly also to the installer himself.

They can communicate through the terrestrial telephone line or through the GSM-GPRS network by inserting a valid SIM with sufficient traffic.

If the system is equipped with a GSM-GPRS 3G dialer, it is possible, subject to sufficient operator coverage and active Internet data plan on the SIM, to use the system also via APP on smartphone.

Network cards (LAN)

The LAN network card, generally on the central unit, is necessary to connect the anti-theft system via APP on smartphone and have a more reliable and faster remote assistance service.
